“That light reflects you.”
Those were the words we chose to share this National Assisted Living Week as we celebrated the incredible people who help make a difference in the lives of older adults every day.
National Assisted Living Week 2026, taking place September 13–19, carries the beautiful theme “Shining Through the Years.” This year’s theme encourages us to recognize the people, memories, experiences, and moments that continue to bring light to assisted living communities.
At Adult Alternative Home Care, we wanted to celebrate that light in a simple but meaningful way.
A Little Sweetness and a Lot of Appreciation
As part of our National Assisted Living Week celebration, we visited one of our valued assisted living referral partners with cookie treats and small compact mirrors.
The cookies were our way of adding a little sweetness to their day.
The mirrors carried a much deeper message:
“That light reflects you.”
When they looked into the mirror, we wanted them to be reminded that the compassion they show, the lives they touch, and the work they do each day truly matters.
Sometimes, those who spend their days caring for others don’t stop to recognize the impact they themselves have. They are busy supporting residents, communicating with families, coordinating care, solving problems, and creating meaningful experiences.
So, this time, we wanted them to pause and see something important:
The light they help create is reflected right back at them.
Shining Through the Years
“Shining Through the Years” is a fitting theme because assisted living is about so much more than providing a place to live. It is about people and their stories.
Every resident brings years of experiences, memories, accomplishments, lessons, traditions, and wisdom. Every caregiver and staff member contributes compassion and dedication. Families and community partners add another layer of support.
Together, these relationships create a community where people can continue to shine through every chapter of life.
At Adult Alternative Home Care, we are honored to work alongside assisted living communities that share our commitment to supporting older adults with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Celebrating the People Behind the Care
Our referral partners are an important part of the senior-care community. Their trust, collaboration, and dedication help connect individuals and families with the services and support they need.
Our visit was a small gesture, but it represented something much bigger:
We appreciate you. We see the work you do. We value our partnership. And your light makes a difference.
National Assisted Living Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the residents, families, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and community partners who make assisted living communities special.
This year, we chose to celebrate by giving a little sweetness and a reminder to reflect on the person in the mirror.
Because while you spend your days helping others shine…
Don’t forget that you shine, too.
Happy National Assisted Living Week!
To our assisted living referral partners and all those who dedicate their time to serving older adults:
Thank you for shining through the years.
And whenever you look into that little mirror, remember:
“That light reflects you.”
